District of Ucluelet Elected Official Ian Kennington Resigns From Council - February 28, 2025


Ucluelet, B.C. — The District of Ucluelet announces the resignation of Councillor Ian Kennington, who has stepped down from his position on Council. On the evening of Thursday, February 27, 2025, Councillor Kennington informed Mayor McEwen of his decision, citing his permanent relocation from Ucluelet.

Over the past two years, Councillor Kennington has been a dedicated member of Council, offering valuable insights from the building and development sector. His contributions have supported key initiatives, particularly in infrastructure renewal and affordable housing, and his perspective has been appreciated by Council and the community.

“I would like to thank Councillor Kennington for his service to Ucluelet. His contributions and efforts are appreciated, and we wish him the best in his next chapter,” said Mayor McEwen.

With his resignation, the District of Ucluelet will be moving forward with a by-election. Further details on this process will be provided in the coming weeks.
