BC Hydro work could impact West Coast clocks - September 3, 2024
BC Hydro -- From Tuesday, September 3 through to Friday, September 6, BC Hydro crews will be doing maintenance on the transmission line between Port Alberni substation and Great Central Lake substation. To safely complete the work, the transmission line needs to be de-energized. During this period West Coast customers in Tofino, Ucluelet, Ahousaht, Salmon Beach, Toquaht Bay, Port Albion and surrounding areas will be islanded and provided with electricity directly from Ash Generating Station. Islanding allows BC Hydro to keep the power on for West Coast customers while we complete this maintenance work.
While islanded, customers can expect some minor inaccuracy in clocks plugged into electrical power outlets, a loss or gain of about 5 minutes a day until the transmission system is reintegrated into the larger BC Hydro grid on Friday, September 6.
Thanks for your patience while we complete this work.
